CPE States
Every CPE has a status that summarizes its current state. This status appears in the CPE list, on the side card of the detail screen, and on the Dashboard cards. Understanding each state is essential for diagnostics.
| Status | Color | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online | Green | The device is communicating normally. | Nothing — everything is fine. |
| Offline | Gray/Red | The device stopped communicating, without any indication of optical signal loss (LOS). Could be power, a frozen device, or a local network problem. | See CPE offline or flapping. |
| LOS | Red | Loss of Signal — loss of optical signal. Broken fiber, loose/dirty connector, or the device is off. | See Poor signal or LOS. |
| No power | Orange | The device reported a power outage (Dying Gasp). Usually a power outage at the customer's home. | See CPE with no power (Dying Gasp). |
| Awaiting activation | Yellow | New device, detected by the OLT but not yet authorized to operate. | See Activate a CPE. |
| Blocked | Red | The device is blocked (e.g., due to non-payment/provider rules). | Depends on the provider's business rule. |
Offline × LOS × No power — how to tell them apart
These three states are easy to confuse, but they point to different causes:

Reported Dying Gasp?
YesNo power = power outage at the customerNoContinue diagnosis
- No power (Dying Gasp): the device reported that it lost power — it's the "calmest" cause (it will come back once power is restored).
- LOS: there's an optical loss signal — a physical problem in the fiber/connector.
- Offline without either of the above: the device disappeared without warning — could be a freeze, an ONU problem, or the customer's internal network.
On the Dashboard
The Dashboard summarizes these states in cards (Online, Offline, LOS, No power, Awaiting activation) and in Signal Monitoring (Excellent / Attention / Poor / LOS). Each card is clickable and takes you to the filtered list.
