CPE Actions

Goal: learn the actions available on a CPE (restart, reset, remove) and when to use each one.

On the CPE detail screen, the Actions button (top right corner) opens a menu with the operations you can perform on the device. Some are reversible and harmless; others are destructive and require care.

Available actions

ActionWhat it doesReversible?Impact on the customer
Restart CPE (via OLT)Restarts the device remotely, through the OLT.YesA few minutes without connection during boot.
Factory Reset (via OLT)Restores the CPE to factory settings.NoLoses all local settings (WiFi, passwords). Customer stays offline until reconfigured/reprovisioned.
View configurationShows the device's current configuration.Yes (read-only)None.
View historyDisplays the CPE's event/change history.Yes (read-only)None.
Remove from CpehubDeletes the CPE record in Cpehub, without touching the OLT.Partial (it can be rediscovered)None immediately; the device stays on the OLT.
Deauthorize on OLT and Delete from CpehubRemoves the ONU's authorization on the OLT and deletes it from Cpehub.NoCustomer goes offline. Equivalent to "uninstalling" the device from the network.
Destructive actions

Factory Reset, Remove from Cpehub, and especially Deauthorize on OLT and Delete from Cpehub affect the customer's service and may not be reversible. Confirm you have the right device (serial) before executing.

Restarting a CPE — Step by step

  1. Open the CPE under CPEs → View CPE.
  2. Click Actions → Restart CPE (via OLT).
  3. Confirm. The device restarts; wait a few minutes for it to come back Online.

Factory reset — When to use it

Use it only when the device configuration is corrupted or you need to "start from scratch." After the reset, the CPE needs to be reconfigured/reprovisioned — if you use automations or a preset, it may reconfigure itself once it comes back.

Remove × Deauthorize — What's the difference?

  • Remove from Cpehub: removes only the record from the system. The ONU stays authorized on the OLT and will likely reappear on the next discovery. Use it to "clean up" duplicate/incorrect records.
  • Deauthorize on OLT and Delete from Cpehub: removes the authorization on the OLT and deletes it from Cpehub. Use it when the customer was canceled and the device must leave the network.
