Network topology for TR-069
For TR-069 to work, the customer's equipment (CPE) needs to reach Cpehub's ACS server over the network. This page explains, at a high level, the most common topologies.
The principle
The CPE needs:
- IP connectivity to the ACS (Layer 3).
- To know the ACS address (the CWMP URL).
Item 2 is solved by one of the Configure TR-069 methods (via OLT/OMCI, preset, or DHCP Option 43). Item 1 depends on your topology.

ACS Server
- Management on the same data network: the CPE gets an IP and reaches the ACS through the provider network's normal route, which reaches Cpehub via VPN.
- VLAN/DHCP dedicated to TR-069: a separate network just for management, usually using DHCP Option 43 to inform the ACS.
Network prerequisites
- The VPN between your network and Cpehub must be online.
- The path from the CPE to the ACS must not be blocked by a firewall.
Every network is different
Since Brazil has providers with very different topologies, there's no single design that fits everyone. If you're unsure about yours, talk to Cpehub so we can design the best approach.
